Editing Projects
Ah . . .editing. That's the step in the writing process that I am here for; the part of the process you should not have to worry about. The way I see it, you are the author, and I see your contribution as writing-writing-writing. You should not have to stop and pay attention to all the technical details, idiosyncrasies, and debatable nuances of the English language while you write. That's what keeps me off the streets!
- Can't decide if that comma should be a period or a semicolon? Or, if any punctuation is needed at all?
- Not sure how to get where you’re wanting to go? Leave it to me to ask, “Does that mean this?" "Does this mean that?" "Well, what did you mean?”
- Need a good word? I’ve got lots of dictionaries and other resources. Need the right word? I’ve got style guides and grammar books galore!
I’m here to help you, to reassure you, and to pump you full of ideas and options! You choose how much advice to listen to and how to use it! You can do that with me because, unlike many publishing house editors, I work with you to improve your message while you still have control over it.
The important task is to help get you back to telling your story in the best way possible so that you can reach the readers you want to reach with the message you want to get across.
To do that, I utilize three types of editorial review: substantive reviewing, copyediting, and proofreading.
